Frequently asked questions
Plain answers before you book.
First visit
What happens at the first visit?
You talk with your doctor about your history and what you want from care, then have an exam. The doctor explains what was found and what the options are. Treatment starts that day only if you agree. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Families are welcome, and a child comes with a parent or guardian. If you are pregnant, tell us when you book. Your doctor will talk through what care is appropriate and is glad to coordinate with your OB or midwife.
Treatment
Is chiropractic care safe?
Most people have no serious problems, but every treatment has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is the common one. Rare serious risks exist, and your doctor explains them to you before your first adjustment. You can say no to any part of care, and your doctor will ask about your health history first.
Will it hurt?
Many people feel pressure or a stretch. Some are sore for a day or so afterward. Tell your doctor if anything is uncomfortable, and they will change what they do or stop.
How many visits will I need?
Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it with you as you go. The exam, your goals and how you respond decide how often you come, so we do not set a number in advance.
Do I need x-rays?
Not always. We take x-rays only when medically necessary, and your doctor explains why before ordering any.
What if I am seeing another provider?
Tell us. With your permission we can share notes with your physician or another provider. If your symptoms need a physician first, we will say so.
Coverage
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans and some others. What a plan pays for chiropractic visits differs from plan to plan, so our front desk checks yours before your first visit and tells you what they find. The how fees work page has the details.
What if I do not use insurance?
You can pay for visits yourself. If you do, we give you a written Good Faith Estimate in advance, and an itemized receipt after each visit that you can send to your plan. Ask us.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please call us as early as you can if you cannot make a visit. Ask the front desk about the practice’s cancellation policy when you book.
